Assault and Battery – Found Not Guilty by Jury!
December 2019
Mr. Idumesaro's client was charged with assault and battery by the City of Pontiac, Michigan. The prosecution tried to utilize an innocent statement by Mr. Idumesaro's client to law enforcement agents to imply to the jury an admission of guilt. Mr. Idumesaro, in his characteristic nature, invested ample time investigating the case, interviewing witnesses, visiting the alleged locus criminis (place of the alleged crime) and re-enacted the story before the jury showing that the alleged victim was the initial aggressor and Mr. Idumesaro's client acted in self-defense. This was a case that did not require the defense to prove self-defense. However, Mr. Idumesaro convinced the jury that his client acted in self-defense. The jury deliberated for less than an hour and returned a Not Guilty verdict!
